There are series of football players who strife to break club football goal scoring records but at the end of the day, only a few of these players succeed to achieve this objective.
There so many players who have broken their club goal scoring records. However, 5 out of these players stand out.
1. Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Pele)
Pele was born on October 23, 1940. He is from Brasil. He is still the only football player up to this present moment to have won 3 FIFA world cups (1958, 1962 and 1970).
Pele was voted the world player of the century by International Federation of Football History and Statistics. He holds the highest goalscoring record with the Brasilian club, Santos with 541. He has 1281 goals to his credit in 1363 games.
2. Lionel Messi
Messi was born on June 24, 1987. He is from Argentina. He has achieved an unprecedented feat never achieved before by any footballer by winning the FIFA world player of the year for 5 different times (2009, 2010, 2010, 2011 and 2015).
In 2012 to 2013 season in the Spanish league, he achieved an unbelievable feat by scoring against 19 different Spanish football clubs consecutively.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo is the captain of the Portuguese national team. He was born on February 5, 1985. He is the only player to have beaten the long standing goal record of Raul Gonzalez in Real Madrid football club. He is the most prolific goal scorer for Real Madrid by scoring 324 goals in just 310 games to beat Raul’s 323 goals in 741 games.
4. Frank Lampard
Lampard was born on June 20, 1978. He is from England. He currently plays with New York city football club. While he played in the English Premiership, his name appeared in the new Guinness World Records 2016 book for the highest number of goals scored against the most number of Premier League teams.
Lampard alone scored against 39 out of different 46 football clubs he played against. His goal against Chelsea before he finally left for the USA was the icing on the cake.
5. Jamie Vardy
The present and prolific Leicester football club footballer was born on January 11, 1987. He is presently one of the highest goalscorers in the English Premier league. On Saturday, November 28, 2015, Vardy broke van Nistelroy’s goal record of scoring in 10 consecutive games. Vardy scored in the English Premiership match against Newcastle United for his 11th consecutive games.
